Dear Grant Applicants

There will be some modifications in this form for the FY2025 grant application cycle, the Newton Cultural Council.

This form is meant to help both you, the applicants, and us, the evaluators. We highly recommend you attempt to rate your own program before submitting your application.

Scores for sections to be calculated automatically based on scores of individual criteria.

Quality, Originality, Creativity 35% Section Score
Are the applicant’s and/or partners’ credentials satisfactory?
Do the qualifications of the leading artist, humanist or interpretive scientist suggest the project will be of high quality?
Does project have requisite technical expertise/and or support to be succesful. (lighting design, expertise, teaching material, appropriate workshop space, etc?
Does the project seem interesting, innovative or particularly original?
Is the project particularly compelling in terms of timeliness, context?

Community Benefit 35% Section Score
The project serves and involve the community. A particular segment? An underserved population?
The applicant/applicant org is based in Newton.
The project contributes to the cultural vitality and well-being of the community as a whole.
The project plays a unique role specific to the community.
The project will reach a large number or residents or a targeted group of residents beneficial to community life as a whole.

Planning is sufficient. The timeline make sense to ensure project implementation quality.
Participants/audiences have been identified.
Date/time/venue have been set for project’s completion. Contact names are listed for any performances or showing in the area
